Dr. Vijay Korra is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad, where he has been serving since 2013. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, with his doctoral research conducted through the Centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. His dissertation focused on labour migration and the implementation of MGNREGA. His research interests include migration studies, labour economics and labour markets, MGNREGA, the unorganized sector, development and marginalization, and tribal economies. He received the Prof. K. Srinivasan Award for the best paper published in the journal Demography India in 2012, conferred by the Indian Association for the Study of Population (IASP).
Dr. Korra has published numerous articles and book chapters in nationally and internationally reputed edited volumes. He is the author of two books: Forgotten Communities of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh: A Story of De-notified Tribes, and Gulf Migration and Rural Transformation in Telangana, published by Palgrave Macmillan, Singapore, and Mittal Publications, New Delhi, respectively. He has completed nine research studies and has organized three research methodology training programmes for Ph.D. scholars, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, and the Department of Planning, Government of Telangana. He is currently working on a study titled Occupational Diversification, Migration, and Development among the De-notified Tribes: A Study in Telangana, which examines livelihood transitions and socio-economic challenges faced by these marginalized communities.
