A two-Day Training of Master Trainers on Social Audit of Samagra Shiksha was held during 18-19 June 2026 at BPR Vithal Auditorium, Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Hyderabad, Telangana under the aegis of the Ministry of Education. Organised by Samagra Shiksha, Telangana and CESS, the NCERT resource persons were invited to conduct the two-day training programme. The training brought together 130 participants including 66 master trainers from the state, committed to quality school education through the strengthening of accountability mechanisms in the schools. NCERT resource persons Prof Sharad Sinha, Dr Priyanka Varshney and Bhabagrahi Pradhan; Officials from Telangana School Education department – A Usha Rani, Madan Mohan, Joint Directors; CESS team Dr K Chandrasekhar, Dr P Prudhvikar Reddy, M Bharath Bhushan, Dr J Srinivas and Dr S Harinath participated.
Dr K Chandrasekhar coordinator of the Samagra Shiksha Social Audit unit from CESS welcomed the participants of the two-day training program. The programme was inaugurated by Prof E. Revathi, Director CESS, she briefly spoke on the Samagra Shiksha genesis, its alignment to RTE and NEP 2020 and objective of social audit. Mr Madan Mohan, Joint Director Samagra Shiksha Telangana highlighted the importance of social audit and the process to be followed in the state. This was followed by focussed sessions taken by the NCERT team Prof. Sharad Sinha, Head, Dept. of Teacher Education, Dr. Bhabagrahi Pradhan, Assoc. Professor, DTE NCERT and Dr. Priyanka Varshney, Assoc Prof, DTE NCERT.
The sessions focused on:
- Understanding the need for and importance of social audit
- Objectives and steps of Social Audit exercise
- Roles and responsibilities of Master Trainers
- Strategies for community participation and stakeholder engagement
- Strengthening monitoring, transparency, and accountability in Samagra Shiksha implementation.
The programme provided a platform for meaningful discussions, exchange of experiences, and capacity building to support evidence-based decision-making and improved educational outcomes.
