The Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS), Begumpet in collaboration with Telangana Economic Association (TEA) has conducted a Symposium on Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India- with A focus on Telangana” on 15th November, 2025. The Symposium was chaired by Prof. K. Muthyam Reddy, President Telangana Economic Association (TEA). The Symposium is addressed by Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary (industry & Commerce), Prof. Debashis Acharya, Dean School of Economics, University of Hyderabad. Prof. E. Revathi, Director, Centre for Economic and Social Studies (CESS) and Dr. V. Vijay Kumar, Research Fellow, CESS. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan IAS, said that Telangana tops in attracting FDI in Digital Economy and Sixth in total FDI among 12 top states in India. Telangana government has taken several pro-active steps such as TG-iPASS, Fast track clearance, land allotment, monetary incentives, skilling the youth, providing conducive ecosystem. He suggested for a cooperative policy between the Centre and States in attracting the FDI. Prof. Debashis Acharya highlighted the importance of FDI for productivity and spillover benefits, even though there are challenges in statistically testing the influence of FDI on the economy. Prof. E. Revathi and Vijay Kumar highlighted the growing influence of FDI. However, they expressed concern over lack of data at the State level, on FDI related variables at sectoral levels. The symposium expressed the need for the State Government of Telangana to collect specific data on FDI in the different sectors. So that more understanding is generated on the role of FDI on Telangana growth the development. Prof. Ramana Murthy, Vice-president of TEA presented the vote of thanks.
