The inaugural session of the workshop was held on 9th June 2025. Dr. Alivelu Kasturi, Dean of DGS, welcomed the participants and provided a brief overview of the workshop, highlighting its objectives and significance. Prof. E. Revathi, Director of CESS, graced the occasion and emphasized the importance of analytical tools such as SPSS, Stata, and qualitative methods in enhancing the quality of research in the social sciences. She noted that these tools are invaluable for social science researchers aiming to conduct rigorous and impactful studies.
The sessions were facilitated by expert resource persons—Dr. Venkatanarayana M, Dr. P. Aparna, Dr. Dayakar Peddi, and Surya Surendran, who provided in-depth training on the use of SPSS, STATA, and Qualitative data analysis. Participants were introduced to these tools theoretical concepts and hands-on application using real-time datasets. The workshop featured practical sessions on data cleaning, statistical analysis, and qualitative data interpretation using SPSS, STATA, NVivo, and ATLAS.ti.
The workshop concluded with a valedictory session on 18th June 2025, during which certificates of participation were awarded to all successful participants. Prof. E. Revathi and Dr. Alivelu Kasturi attended the ceremony and presented the certificates.
In her valedictory address, Prof. Revathi appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and active involvement throughout the sessions. She highlighted the significance of quantitative and qualitative research methods in social science and emphasized how these tools play a vital role in effective data analysis and interpretation. She also encouraged the students to actively apply these tools in their ongoing and future research.
The scholars expressed high satisfaction with the workshop, noting that it greatly enhanced their research skills and confidence in using analytical tools. Many appreciated the individual attention provided by the resource persons, particularly during practice sessions, which helped clarify doubts and strengthen their understanding.
Senior Research Scholars of CESS actively volunteered and supported the Resource Persons during the hands-on training sessions, ensuring the smooth conduct of the workshop. Dr. A. Ramesh served as the Student Coordinator, playing a key role in organizing and facilitating the event.
